Battery Maintenance & Care
Another benefit of choosing an EV is fewer regular maintenance visits. While models with a gas engine require regular maintenance for oil changes, EVs don’t require the same regular replacements. Instead, you can expect to have your EV in for scheduled maintenance roughly every 10,000 miles or 12 months for brake, tire, and fluid-related maintenance.
A best practice in maintaining your EV battery between visits is to keep it at a constant mid-level charge, rather than leaving it in a run-down state of charge or pushing it to 100 percent on a daily basis. Using a Level 2 AC charger for your regular charging over a DC fast charger is also better for the battery health, as it pushes less charge into the battery over a longer period of time.
Ford EV batteries are designed to last, and that’s why they are backed by an 8-year or 100,000-mile warranty to retain 70 percent of its original capacity.

Frequently Asked Questions
Prior to 2024, eligible purchasers would claim the Qualified Plug-in Electric Drive Motor Vehicle Credit when you filed your taxes and receive your credit after filing. As part of recent legislation impacting purchases starting January 1, 2024, the EV tax credit is now called the Clean Vehicle Credit, and may be applied toward the purchase of a new EV. A variety of factors impact eligibility. See the U.S. Department of Energy Website for more information about current legislation and tax credit requirements.
In general, no, EV charging stations are not free. You may find exceptions at select businesses or utility companies that choose to provide free charging, but most public charging stations require you to pay to charge. When you charge in the BlueOval Charge Network, you can manage paying as you go through the FordPass App.
Of the 2023 model year Ford EVs, the F-150 Lighting has the longest available battery range — with a maximum range of up to 320 miles. As battery technology and innovations continue to develop, stay tuned for more current range updates in the models that pique your interest.
